Spotted: New NYC In A New York Color Minute Nail Polish shades for 2014

There's yet another new NYC display now hitting Rite Aid, and there's a fun little surprise in this one! Thanks to several readers for sharing pics of this display--I happened to spot it myself a while back, and took some pics (below) but I'm very behind on my new product posts so it's taken me a while to get this one up. Hopefully many of you have been able to find this one since it first landed in stores!

First of all, these are NEW additions to the core NYC line--not limited edition. Second, there's a nice, inexpensive alternative to a more expensive polish in this display, so keep reading for all the details!

NEW NYC In A New York Color Minute Quick Dry Nail Polish shades for 2014
(retail: $1.99 each, 0.33 oz)

Top Of The Gold, Disco Inferno

Top Of The Gold is new here in the US (it's been in Europe for a while, but much more on that in a moment). Disco Inferno is a repromote from the Limited Edition Fall 2013 Disco Inferno Collection, so it's nice that they made this one permanent for those who may have missed out on that collection.

NY Blues, Minted On Broadway

None of these are jumping out at me as repromotes from previous limited edition collections (but I could be wrong!).

Nolita's Lavender, Hamptons Peach, Lafayette Pink

Reader Joanna purchased Top Of The Gold and shared some pics and comparison swatches:

Top Of The Gold is a gold flake top coat with a clear base. This is NOT those huge, metallic shards that we've seen from other brands--this is more along the lines of Zoya Maria Luisa, and Joanna shared a comparison of the two:

Zoya Maria Luisa, NYC Top Of The Gold

Nina Ultra Pro Gold Flake Top Coat, NYC Top Of The Gold, Zoya Maria Luisa
as swatched by reader Joanne

Again, NYC Top Of The Gold has been available in Europe for a while (since the fall, I believe). I found a swatch of it over red here and you can compare that to Jen of The PolishAholic's swatch of Zoya Maria Luisa over red here, to get an even closer look at the similarities between the two.

I think that, for $1.99, this is a nice alternative to the Zoya shade, and I wouldn't have even known about this one if it hadn't been for reader Joanna, so thanks again, Joanna, for the great pics and tip!

Have you spotted the new-for-2014 NYC In A New York Color Minute shades yet? Thoughts?

  1. Disco Inferno really stands out to me. I want to try it now. :)

  2. I don't care for NYC polishes. They are not good quality, IMO.

  3. Good to hear these are permanent. Love Disco Inferno, already have 3 bottles. Was a RA 2 days ago, bought 2 gold polishes. Yesterday went back for blue, pink and peach. The purple seems to the same as WNW Megalast On A Trip.

I know I have a problem... but it's relatively cheap... and totally fun!

  4. Will these be in other stores like CVS or Walgreens?

    1. I saw them at my CVS about a week ago.

  5. Love their top coat, it's my absolute favorite!

  6. I was hoping the gold flakie topper would be closer to Zoya Gilty (even though I own it) but looks like a great alternative nonetheless!

  7. i just picked up hamptons beach and ny blues. the blues and oranges are really standing out for me!

  8. i would love to see a picture of Hamptons Peach on someone's nails!!

  9. We just got these up in Canada, I saw them at my Walmart. I got Top of the Gold and Nolita's Lavender. The lavender is very very close to a one-coater.
